Understanding has something to do with self-awareness

Maybe one of the problems on defining Understanding and accepting the idea of an ai understanding something is to do with our common definition of the word understanding. It is sonething that humans do, that requires self-awareness and intelligence.

We are puzzled by awareness and self awareness. It is odd how the self awareness thing interacts with the understanding process, ie .  Understanding is in part a conscious process. 







Penrose goes on about how understanding is non-computational And thAt for us to have evolved, there must be some aspect of non- computational physics, but he gives practically no argument to say the process of understanding is computational.

Then he talks about quantum coherence and how that cd be created by microtubules via some kind of high temperature super conductivity.  Interesting stuff about quantum physics but until we have an idea of what the requirements fir consciousness are, o don't think speculating over how it cd be avhieved by quantum physics is going to answer things.
